Missouri farmers can reduce Gulf oil spill's impact on birds
Missouri landowners have until Aug. 1 to join a federal initiative to help migratory birds whose winter habitat has been damaged by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.Drawings for permanent duck blinds at Fort Gibson, Eufaula, Webbers Falls, Waurika, W.D. Mayo and Ft. Supply will take place Saturday, Sept. 20, a different date than normal according to officials with the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.

Poacher Sentenced In Shooting Death of Americus Youth - Aug. 27, 2008
Last December, 18-year-old Beau Arndt, Americus, was shot and killed in a layout blind among a large spread of goose decoys. The lethal rifle shot was fired from a road 150 yards away, and a jury decided Theron Kent, Topeka, was responsible. The incident has resulted in the state's first conviction for a hunting-related death in Kansas.
