JOHNSON CREEK – The Wisconsin Waterfowl Association (WWA), in conjunction with the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), will host a free waterfowl skills day here on Saturday, July 20. The program will run from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Milford Hills Hunt Club, Johnson Creek. Pre-registration is required and can be done so by contacting Mark Kakatsch at 262-567-1300.
“Did you ever want to learn about duck and goose hunting? Did you ever see a duck fly overhead and wonder what kind of duck it was? If you answer yes to either of these questions, then this event is for you,” said Brenda Hill, DNR wildlife biologist for Dodge County.
Among the day’s topics will be waterfowl identification and biology, calling, dog handling and safety. Participants will also have the opportunity to practice their shooting skills, weather permitting. Presentations will be given by experienced waterfowl hunters and DNR staff. Lunch and all materials, including ammunition and hearing protection, will be provided at no cost.
The following counties are in the South Central Region: Columbia, Crawford, Dane, Dodge, Grant, Green, Iowa, Jefferson, Lafayette, Richland, Rock, Sauk. The public affairs manager for the DNR South Central Region is: Greg Matthews (608) 275-3317.
