Missouri farmers can reduce Gulf oil spill's impact on birds
Missouri landowners have until Aug. 1 to join a federal initiative to help migratory birds whose winter habitat has been damaged by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.Young waterfowl hunters will have flyways in Lincoln and Clark counties all to themselves during a special two-day youth waterfowl season scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 13 & 14. The season is open to hunters 15 years of age and younger, but each youth must be accompanied by an adult who is at least 18 years old. Adults are not allowed to hunt during this season, however.
2010 Midwinter Waterfowl Survey Results - Feb. 20, 2010
The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) conducted the annual Midwinter Waterfowl Survey on January 4, 2010. The survey is conducted throughout the Atlantic Flyway, and is used as an index of long-term wintering waterfowl trends.
Duck hunters finish the season on DNR Waterfowl Management Areas - Feb. 17, 2010
Duck hunters finished the season on S.C. Department of Natural Resources public hunting lands, with a total harvest of 3,643 birds, an average of 2.0 birds per hunter, identical to the per hunter average reported last year. A total of 1,841 hunters participated in these popular hunts at the 16 Wildlife Management Areas that recorded individual hunt data.

West Zone Goose: Snow on the High Plains has made it difficult to hunt geese. A foot of snow, with drifts as deep as three feet, have made for tough hunting conditions. Outfitters have not even considered hunting, but a warm-up forecasted for this weekend should aid in the meltdown. Still lots of geese, including Canadas and snows on Lake Etter. Peanuts and wheat have been producing around Lubbock. The regular goose season closes at sunset Feb. 7. The Light Goose Conservation Order begins Feb.8. Prospects are fair.
West Virginia's Mid-winter Waterfowl Survey Completed Duck and Geese Numbers Up from 2009 - Feb. 02, 2010
Wildlife biologists counted 2,868 ducks and 7,789 Canada geese during the annual mid-winter waterfowl survey in early January, according to Steve Wilson, Waterfowl Biologist for the Wildlife Resources Section of the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources.
