2010 Wisconsin waterfowl hunting seasons set

Duck Season Structure * 60-day season, the overall daily bag limit for ducks is six, no more than four mallards of which only one can be a hen, three wood ducks, two redheads, one black duck, two pintail, two scaup and one canvasback. (For species of duck not listed, such as teal and ring-necks, the combined total with all other species may not exceed six ducks). * In addition the daily bag may also include 5 mergansers to include not more than two hooded mergansers and 15 coot. * Northern Zone - Sept. 25 at 9 a.m. through Nov. 23. * Southern Zone- Oct. 2 at 9 a.m. through Oct. 10, and Oct. 16 through Dec. 5.

MADISON ? Hunters looking forward to the opening of Wisconsin?s 2010 duck season in the northern duck zone on Sept. 25 should find good numbers of ducks, according to state wildlife officials.

Northern zone duck season opens Sept. 26 - Sep. 15, 2009
MADISON ? Wisconsin duck hunters will again enjoy the maximum 60-day season in 2009 and are reminded that the Northern and Southern duck hunting zones have different opening and closing dates and a split in the Southern Zone as follows.

Regular season Canada goose begins - Sep. 08, 2009
MADISON - Regular season Canada goose hunting in the Horicon and Collins zones will begin on Sept. 16. Similar to last year, the 2009 regular season in the Exterior zone will not open until Saturday, Sept. 19, which also marks the start of the two-day Youth Waterfowl hunt.

Early Canada goose, mourning dove seasons open Sept. 1 - Aug. 25, 2009
MADISON - The first of the fall hunting seasons arrives on Sept. 1 with the opening the early September Canada goose and mourning dove seasons.

MADISON ? Variable spring habitat conditions observed in the United States and Canada present a mixed picture for the fall 2009 waterfowl seasons in Wisconsin, according to the state waterfowl biologist. Preliminary information shows areas ranging from very good wetland conditions to very dry. Wildlife managers will have a better understanding of what impact these conditions had on actual breeding waterfowl numbers when they finish compiling and analyzing spring waterfowl breeding surveys.

MADISON, WI – The estimated 50,000 or more Wisconsin waterfowl hunters whose favorite hunting partner has four legs, a tail and doesn’t mind swimming in cold water may want to take some precautions against their friend coming down with serious illness from ingesting water containing potentially toxic blue-green algae.
