S.C. waterfowl season gets underway Nov. 26
Nov. 19, 2008The 2008-2009 late waterfowl season will soon get underway with the first segment opening on Wednesday, Nov. 26 running until Sunday, Nov. 30.
Young waterfowl hunters across the state will enjoy special days in the field Saturday, Feb. 5 and Sunday Feb. 6 by participating in Youth Waterfowl Days on private lands, public waters normally open to waterfowl hunting, and on some S.C. Department of Natural Resources Waterfowl Management Areas.
Duck hunters finish the season on DNR Waterfowl Management Areas - Feb. 17, 2010
Duck hunters finished the season on S.C. Department of Natural Resources public hunting lands, with a total harvest of 3,643 birds, an average of 2.0 birds per hunter, identical to the per hunter average reported last year. A total of 1,841 hunters participated in these popular hunts at the 16 Wildlife Management Areas that recorded individual hunt data.

The Waterfowl Advisory Committee to the S.C. Department of Natural Resources (DNR) recently completed a series of five public listening sessions across the State to receive input from waterfowl hunters. One of the common themes to come from the sessions was the need for better education of those participating in the sport in terms of practicing ethical behavior, especially those hunting on public waters.

Mobility impaired hunters watched the sun slowly rise over the frozen tree line as anxious black Labrador retrievers were poised on the edge of the "Ducktoons" on Dec. 15 and Dec. 17.
DNR assists Upstate mobility impaired waterfowl hunts - Dec. 11, 2009
Mobility impaired hunters will be treated to a unique opportunity to attend two draw waterfowl hunts in the Upstate on Dec. 15 and Dec. 17. The hunts will be held at Duncan Creek Waterfowl Management Area (WMA) and the Clinton House Plantation in Laurens County on Dec. 15 and the Tyger River WMA in Union County and Clinton House Plantation on Dec. 17.
S.C. waterfowl season gets underway Nov. 25 - Nov. 23, 2009
The 2009-2010 late waterfowl season will soon get underway with the first segment opening on Wednesday, Nov. 25 running until Sunday, Nov. 29. The second segment begins Saturday, Dec. 12 and extends until Jan. 31. The season also includes three youth waterfowl hunting days. State youth day is Dec. 5, and federal youth days are Feb. 6-7, 2010.
Waterfowl Advisory group meets Nov. 3 in Columbia - Nov. 02, 2009
The Waterfowl Advisory Committee to the S.C. Natural Resources Board will meet 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3 in Room 335 at the Rembert C. Dennis Building located at 1000 Assembly St. in Columbia.
