Duck Season Opens Oct. 9 at Southern Michigan Managed Waterfowl Areas - Oct. 04, 2010
As the regular duck and goose hunting season begins Saturday, Oct. 9, in the South Zone, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment reminds waterfowl hunters of the opportunities that exist at the seven managed waterfowl areas throughout southern Michigan. These areas offer unique hunting experiences in locations that are historically known for large concentrations of waterfowl. Hunting is by permit only and permits are issued by drawings held at area check stations.

Waterfowl Season Opens Jan. 2 in Southern Michigan - Dec. 21, 2009
The Department of Natural Resources reminds waterfowl hunters that they have another opportunity to pursue their sport beginning Jan. 2 as duck season and the late Canada goose season open in the South Zone, except in selected Goose Management Units (GMUs).

Becoming an Outdoors-Woman Program Offers Waterfowl Workshop Sept. 26 in Brighton - Jul. 23, 2009
The Department of Natural Resources' Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) program is offering a Beyond BOW waterfowl workshop on Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Island Lake State Recreation Area in Brighton. The cost for the workshop is $45, which includes instruction, class materials and lunch.
