DFG Announces 2009 Waterfowl Population Estimates

A 2009 Department of Fish and Game (DFG) waterfowl survey indicates that the number of mallards statewide remains steady, but the overall duck population has declined.

DFG Completes 2010 Waterfowl Breeding Population Survey - Jun. 21, 2010
The Department of Fish and Game (DFG) has completed its 2010 waterfowl breeding population survey. The resulting data show that the overall number of breeding ducks has increased since last year, with the number of mallards - the most abundant duck breeding in the state - increasing 22 percent from last year.

2009/2010 Waterfowl Hunting Opportunities for Eden Landing Ecological Reserve - Oct. 06, 2009
The Department of Fish and Game (DFG) today announced waterfowl hunting opportunities at Eden Landing Ecological Reserve in Hayward. The reserve is composed of former industrial salt ponds now managed by DFG as low-salinity waterbird habitat. Access to ELER for waterfowl hunting will be open only on the dates listed below.

DFG Offers September Waterfowl Hunting Clinics - Aug. 12, 2008
With waterfowl season just around the corner, the Department of Fish and Game’s (DFG) Advanced Hunter Education Program is hosting two waterfowl hunting clinics in September. The first clinic is in Williams in Colusa County on Sept. 20 with a second clinic Sept. 27 at the San Jacinto Wildlife Area in Riverside County.
